Beach walks – Don’t forget to pack your deck chairs! You might wish to just relax on one of these fantastic beaches. We offer delicious packed lunches, perfect for a break during a walk or to enjoy during a chilled day on the beach.
Criccieth, only a few yards from our front door, Borth-Y-Gest 5 miles, Black Rock Sands Morfa Bychan 5 miles, Pwllheli 9 miles, Llanbedrog 13 miles, Nefyn 16 miles, Porthdinllaen Morfa Nefyn 16 miles, Aberdaron 25 miles, Abersoch 15 miles, Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) 25 miles. (All are average distances to these wonderful beaches).
Castles – Criccieth, Harlech and Caernafon.
Cycling – Blaenau Ffestiniog is only 18 miles away, Antur Stiniog is exciting off road in an old slate quarry. Beddgelert is 23 miles away, Coed Y Brenin has all kinds of terrain to be explored. (We have lock up storage for cycles).
Fishing – for coarse fishing and for coarse and trout fishing. Both are in Criccieth and have wonderful views.
Golf – Criccieth 18 holes, Porthmadog 18 holes, Harlech Royal St Davids 18 holes, Pwllheli 18 holes, Abersoch 18 holes, Nefyn 18 holes. Excellent golf with some outstanding locations.
Photography and Art: Andrew Kime, visiting Andrew’s “Golden Eagle Gallery” Is a must, located on the High Street. He is also opening a new gallery “Castle Gallery” in May 2014 located to the right of the entrance to the Castle up the hill. All of the photographs displayed in the hotel are Andrew’s fabulous work. Andrew also runs photography courses from basic to advanced. In Llanbedrog is an amazingly interesting building with excellent art work on display. There is an outdoor theatre, a lovely tearoom, woodland walks with amazing views to the Iron Man Statue which adjoins the Coastal path.
Places of interest – Portmerion, Plas Brondanw gardens Llanfrothen. Lloyd George museum Llanystumdwy, Many National Trust Properties, Zip Wire ride the longest in Europe Penrhyn Quarry Bethesda, Electric Mountain Llanberis, Llechwedd Slate Caverns Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Railways – Ffestiniog, Welsh Highland, Snowdonia Mountain, Talyllyn, Llanberis Lake and The Cambrian Coast Line from Pwllheli to Machynlleth.
Walking – can be explored directly from our front door. Facing the sea turn left and follow the path to Porthmadog or turn right and follow the path to Pwllheli.
Llanystumdwy river walk is amazing. In the spring, it is a carpet of snowdrops then blue bells, summer is tranquil with the sounds of water and bird song and in the autumn there are the stunning colours of the autumn leaves.
