Here you’ll find helpful guest information to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Caerwylan Hotel.
Hotel Access & Security (After Hours)
During the main season, the front door is locked at 10:30pm. At quieter times of the year, the door may be locked earlier in the evening.
To enter the hotel after the door is locked, please use your room key fob with the attached black tag:
- Hold the black tag against the sensor next to the internal oak door handle
- Once inside, close the door firmly and check that it is secure
When going out in the evening, please take your key fob and tag with you.
To exit the hotel when the door is locked, press the rocker switch labelled “Press to Exit.”
Reception, Check-in & Check-out
Reception is available daily from 7:00am to 11:00pm.
Breakfast check-in:
On arrival, please wait at the restaurant entrance to be seated by a member of staff.
Check-in time is from 3:00pm.
If you require a slightly earlier check-in, please speak with reception in advance to see if we are able to accommodate this.
Check-out time is 10:00am.
If you require a slightly later check-out, please speak with reception in advance. Late check-out is subject to availability.
Bar & Restaurant Information
The bar is located on the ground floor, to the left of the lounge.
Opening hours: 11:00am – 11:00pm
Last orders: 10:45pm
If no staff are present at the bar, please visit reception or ring the bell on the counter.
Restaurant opening times:
- In season: 5:45pm – last orders at 8:30pm
- Winter: 6:00pm – last orders at 8:00pm
At quieter times, advance booking is essential, as serving times may vary.
Menus can be viewed on our Tonnau Restaurant website. Printed menus are available at reception or at the hotel entrance.
Please inform reception as early as possible of any dietary requirements.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served daily between 8:00am and 10:00am in the restaurant.
Guests are welcome to help themselves to the buffet, including fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt, and fresh fruit.
Cooked breakfasts and hot drinks are served to your table by our team.
Room Information & Housekeeping
Rooms are serviced every morning
If you do not wish your room to be serviced, please:
- Inform reception, or
- Hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door
To have towels replaced, please leave them in the bath or shower tray.
All rooms include:
- Tea and coffee making facilities (replenished daily during housekeeping)
- Digital television with radio functions
- Hairdryer (located in drawers or wardrobes)
- Complimentary toiletries (found on the window ledge or in the bathroom cabinet)
- Shaver point (inside the bathroom cabinet or on the mirror frame)
If you opt out of housekeeping and require supplies, please contact reception.
Lift Access
A lift is available to all floors. Please note that due to the original layout of the building, there are a few steps between the lift and all bedrooms.
The lift operates between 7:00am and 10:00pm to avoid disturbing other guests.
Please ensure both lift doors are gently closed when exiting.
Parking
Free Parking
There are no parking restrictions along:
- Beach Bank or the road below the hotel
- Outside the Blue China Café
Beach Bank is one-way, entering from the Blue China Café end, and the section by the hotel is narrow. Please ensure you do not block the road and fold in mirrors where possible.
Hotel Car Park
Limited parking is available behind the hotel, subject to availability and at an additional charge. Vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk. Please enquire at reception.

Public Transport
Buses run regularly to Porthmadog and Pwllheli.
Trains operate from Pwllheli to Porthmadog, Harlech, Barmouth, and beyond.
Paper timetables are no longer produced. Timetables are available online or via reception.

Banks
There are no banks in Criccieth. Cash machines are available:
- Outside Nisa (main crossroads)
- Inside Spar at the petrol station (towards Pwllheli)
Porthmadog and Pwllheli both have bank branches.
Post Office
Criccieth no longer has a post office. The nearest are in Porthmadog and Pwllheli.
The nearest post box is up the hill to the right of the hotel, opposite Cadwaladers.
Shops
Local shops are located along the High Street. Please note many close early on Wednesdays.

Fire Safety & Smoking Policy
Please familiarise yourself with the fire escape instructions displayed on your bedroom door.
The hotel is fully fitted with smoke detectors and automatic fire doors. A flashing red light on the detector indicates normal operation.
The entire hotel is strictly non-smoking. Smoking will trigger the alarm system and incur a cleaning charge:
- £75 per night (standard rooms)
- £100 per night (superior/executive rooms)
- In addition, you may be required to pay for an extra night’s stay if the room cannot be used due to lingering smells
In the event of a fire, please gather on the main lawn outside the front entrance.
